...so Daddy let her open up her set of new golf clubs! Since she knows that it's really her Daddy that loves to play golf, she decided that, obviously, this gift was from Daddy. Next it was off to school where she got to share cupcakes with all of her friends. We told her that AFTER school we were taking her some place special so that she could see her other birthday present. So what did we take her to go see?
Her new puppy! Jack, as she has dubbed him, picked her more than she picked him! She had three to choose from, but Jack warmed right up to her. What a cute little fuzz ball! You should've seen the look on her face when she saw those puppies. She never guessed that gift was coming! The best part? Since she decided the golf clubs were from Daddy, she knew the puppy must be from Mommy! Hahahah.
Isn't he a little chunk for a five week old puppy? He'll fit right in at this house! He's like baby Doug in puppy form. Jack doesn't get to come home with us until May 10th, so it was really sweet of his temporary owners to let us come visit him on Kaitlin's birthday. Thank you, Miss Dominique!
DJ loved Jack, too. He was full of giggles and squeals. Who knew that Sissy's birthday was going to be so much fun?! For those of you who are wondering, Jack is a chocolate lab.
Next on the list was to take Kaitlin to PetsMart to pick out stuff for her new puppy. Jack already has a collar, a leash, a handful of toys, treats, shampoo, a brush, and the all important pooper scooper. I think we all know who will be using that the most.
Afterwards, Mommy was tired and needed to go home and rest. Afterall, there was still family coming over to partay after dinner! Kaitlin was barely able to contain herself for that long, so she spent most of the afternoon calling people and telling them about Jack. It was a good way to pass the time.
After dinner family came over. Kaitlin literally got everything she'd asked for (maybe that's because she only asked for three things: a pink guitar, a toy puppy, and a good book!)
Here she is with her pink guitar from Grandma Linda. She is also wearing her dress that Grandpa Ken and Grama Marti sent her from Mexico. She told everyone that her dress was "mexican". She wore it until cake time, at which point she changed into her new swimsuit. Isn't it fun being the birthday girl?
Uncle Dave, Aunt Holly and Wyatt gave Kaitlin a Webkinz chocolate lab so that she could practice up for when Jack comes home. They also got her a puppy bed that he could sleep on!
However, DJ has claimed the dog bed as his own. I guess we'll be sleeping him at the foot of the bed and Jack can have his room.
Kaitlin helped me with her birthday cake. What better way to celebrate the day than with a puppy cake?
Now let us all learn a key lesson from Kaitlin. As she blew out her candles, she wished for a puppy. Did I miss something? I thought she'd already gotten one. I guess wishing for something you already have is a sure way not to be disappointed!
Happy Birthday, little munchkin! You have brought me and your Daddy so much joy these past five years. We love you high as the sky and deep as the ocean.
